Is it possible or feasable to replace the a/c compressor coil on my 03 honda accord 4 cyl.?
Has been diagnosed by a honda dealer but at a cost of $700.00
Trying to save some bucks here. Is it worth it , or can I even get just the coil / clutch assy. and not a complete compressor?
the clutch and coil can be replaced separately as long as the compressor is not seized.
as for the do it yourself, probably not. you need to evacuate the system and recover the refrigerant in order to remove the compressor; the coil and clutch can't be repalced with the compressor on the car. if you don't have the proper equipment you risk serious personal injury from the refrigerant. You'll also need a recharging system to pull the system down and refill the refrigerant when the compressor is reinstalled.
you can shop around for a better price. i am sure there are aftermarket parts available for less and small independent shops that will cut the labor as they're looking for work
